Updated to WP 2.3.1

November 30th, 2007

I have updated the WP of this blog to version 2.3.1. There are some plugin incompatibility issues still lurking around, haven’t have time to troubleshoot yet.

I have deactivate most of the plugins, only the bare minimum are running now. Yt, I keep getting error messages saying the database is corrupted. Got to figure out how it can be repaired this weekend.

Meeting people online

November 29th, 2007

Most of my close friends are still single, they were not looking and were spending too much time at work previously. Now that they are ready to find somebody to share their lives, they find it difficult to meet any decent men in their present social circles because most men they know are married now.

I hope they would get to know someone and get hitched really soon. They are great friends and nice women, but most of them are spending too much time at work and they don’t have a lot of interactions with other people at work.

If they find it really hard at meeting people in real life, maybe they can just try out the Online Dating Sites. I do know a few friends who have successfully dated people they met online and now they are happily married with kids. There is always a possibility, we just have to be more careful and take extra precautions when trying to find a date online.

Actually, to get to know someone online is rather simple, my friends just have to start by creating profiles for themselves. Pretension may work online, but if they what to continue this in real life, they got to be real and honest about who they are. They can can write short introduction about themselves. I think a little sense of humor is great as it will be more eye-catching.

Additionally, they can also search through the database of dating sites and find those people that share the same interests. Most of the dating sites also have premium service that members pay a small fee for extra privileges. I think the members who are willing to pay a small fee show their eagerness and commitment to look for serious relationships. If not, will you be paying for it?

Morning to run errands

November 29th, 2007

Phew, it has been a busy morning for me, I was out running a few errands. I didn’t have much time to mess with my blog and do any blog hopping. Surprisingly the roads were pretty clear for a rainy day. Normally when it rains here traffic start slowing down, thankfully it didn’t today.

It took me 2 hours to finish running all the errands. I finally went to the bank to collect the replacement credit card and Adsense payout. Though the Adsense payout is not a lot, may  not be enough to pay for Disney World and Las Vegas vacations, it’s sufficient to pay for this month’s utility bills, nice eh?

Second blood test

November 29th, 2007

I called the physician’s office yesterday, the second blood test showing the thyroxine is within the accepted level, though it borderlines the lower limit.

The physician says there is no need to go on medication yet, but should monitor the development more closely. In fact, I haven’t felt the same tiredness this week, hopefully it’s gone.

The clueless

November 28th, 2007

Do you ever find yourself making excuses for your husband’s seeming lack of sensitivity?

The “clueless husband” has become almost like the mythical fairy tale character, but instead of marrying the Prince Charming, we’ve got his younger brother, Prince Oblivious. Do we come to accept Prince Oblivious’ actions as normal and typical behavior?

May be we joke about the “clueless” man as a way to cope, even though in truth, this seeming lack of emotional sensitivity frustrates us.

But is the clueless husband really the norm?

According to this article in the online Psychology Today, a new study shows that men are slow at being supportive not because they are incapable, but because they just do it at the wrong time. The article quote the researcher says maybe some men wait until they are certain their wives are really upset. Mine certainly, does yours? :-)

What do I want for Christmas?

November 18th, 2007

Hubby asked what do I want for Christmas. Does it matter what I want? My man doesn’t like to hear a question being answered with a question, so he just ignored me.:-)

What do you want then? How about getting you the Miami Heat tickets? I asked. He said he certainly won’t mind getting tickets to sport events or concert as Christmas gifts. But, doesn’t feel like we should spend so much on entertainment. I really thought we should be spending the money on an air ticket to fly me to IL so that we can be re-united and celebrate this Christmas together.

However, I am not going to let the disappointments rub into me. Planning to go up to meet some friends and celebrate Christmas with them. December is going to be more free since I am closing the school for the month. It’s also time to visit my two sisters who moved into a new condo they bought together in PJ. May go up with mother and niece and stay for a couple of days. It has been a while since I last visited PJ, it’s probably 6 months ago, it’s that long!

Health Screening

November 15th, 2007

Spent whole day at the hospital today. Have decided to go for a health screening to find out what’s wrong with all the fatigue that I am experiencing this two weeks. The health screening package included physical examination, blood and urine tests, ECG and some cancer markers.

The laboratory assistant had to poke at a few places to draw the blood, it took him a while to find the veins because they weren’t visible. The laboratory results should be out in 2-3 days, but the physician would be away for a conference, so I would only see him again next Wednesday.

Since I am at the hospital, also went to see the gynecologist to do an ultra sound scan of the womb. Unfortunately, the ovarian cyst is getting much bigger than it used to be two years ago. I am in a dilemma now, should I go for a surgery? According to the doctor, the cyst has grown too big to go on a hormone therapy now. But, the doctor I saw last time didn’t even mention about hormone therapy!!

Honestly, I don’t really trust the doctors very much, they are all very money minded and may be hiding the truth from you so that they can make more money. I don’t want to cut myself up unnecessary if I can avoid. So, going to see another doctor for second opinion.

New job

November 9th, 2007

Hubby has started the new job with a grocery chain in IL. He is undergoing training at one of the stores 40 miles away. He got to leave home at 5.30 a.m to get there by 7.00 a.m! Fortunately this is just for a few weeks, his actual working location would be in the same town.

They are opening a new store in December and hubby will be working like a dog to get the dairy products section ready for Christmas. I don’t know whether he would be working on Thanksgiving and Christmas or not. Hubby told me the company is one of the few left that still pay more for people to work on Sundays.

Stress is number one enemy

November 7th, 2007

My friend MK is a 50 years old eye specialist, he was telling me this week alone he heard news about two of his classmates during medical school passed away and one just diagnosed to have cancer. I guess the doctors especially those work in highly stressful and competitive environment are neglecting their health a lot. MK said he is glad that he made the decision to move down to this small town 16 years ago.

Stress is really the number one enemy that cause a lot of health problems. I know that for a fact. Running a business and dealing with all the stress in the past three years are the roots of all the health issues that I am currently facing now. I have no choice but to let go of and learn to take things slower.

If you know that you are stressed and it’s affecting your health, you need to take a break, whether it’s going for Vegas vacations or just a break away from the vicious cycle of stressful routine. There is really nothing to gain when one losses her life/health.

Hiring is on

November 5th, 2007

Hubby has been going full steam looking for a job, uploading and depositing resumes into job banks like Boston resumes. He has been called for a few interviews and it looks really promising with one of them.

One of the companies that hubby went for interview had called up a few of the references and is doing a background check. If the background check shows no felony (which shouldn’t have:-)), they want hubby to do a drug test. The drug test will take a few days to know the results.

To me, it looks like they have decided to hire hubby, but is doing the neccessary precautions and going through the hiring procedure. Keep our fingers cross and please pray for us, pray for God’s provision of a better job.

BTW, hubby is being interviewed for the job of dairy manager. The one takes care of all the cheese and milk in the cold storage.:-)

Better paying job for hubby

November 3rd, 2007

Hubby has gone for a couple of interviews recently, even make it to the third interview for one of the jobs. So, I am keeping my fingers cross that he is going to land at a better paying job and we can afford to get our own place soon.

It’s not easy for hubby in the past one year, working at a low paying dead end job, trying to meet ends while looking for a better job. There may be a lot of jobs in Los Angeles and other big cities, but there aren’t many suitable jobs available in this small town. He had gone for countless interviews during the first six months he was back to IL, he got so fed up with the roller coaster rides, he just refused to go anymore for the next six months.

Last month, he decided to follow up with some applications that he has tendered a year ago, and surprisingly, they are calling him for interviews now. I really hope and pray that he will be successful in securing a better job this time.

Monetizing this blog ?

November 1st, 2007

Should I write paid posts on this blog? I have applied to a few networks and this blog has been approved by a few. But, I haven’t started accepting assignments for this blog yet. I am still deciding whether I should monetized this blog with paid post as well.

I see the way to avoid spamming one site with many paid posts is to have many blogs, so that the paid posts can be spread out. Especially the highest PR of all the blogs that I have is only PR2, not many higher paid posts are available, so I would probably need to write more paid posts to make up for the lack of PR.
